Our Clergy

The Rev’d Joseph A. Harmon, Rector

Father Joseph has overseen the consolidation of our two congregations into one and is the first rector of the merged parish. He began his ministry with Christ Church in East Orange in 2011 and came to serve as Priest-in-Charge of Church of the Epiphany in 2015. He previously congregations in Elizabeth and Jersey City, New Jersey, Chicago, Illinois, White Plains, NY, Detroit, Michigan, and Albany, NY. 

Father Harmon is active in our Diocese, where he serves as a member of the Standing Committee and he has served on numerous other Diocesan bodies in the past. He represented our Diocese as an alternate Clergy Deputy to the 2013 General Convention and as a Clergy Deputy to the 2015 General Convention. He is involved in our local community as a member of the clericus of Orange. He has been an advocate for immigration rights and reform, awareness of human trafficking and a member of an interfaith movement to reduce gun violence.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in theca, New York, the Master of Divinity degree from the General Theological Seminary in New York City, and the Juris Doctor degree from Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
He enjoys reading, bowling, playing the piano, carpentry and photography.

 

The Rev’d George Kaswarra, Priest Associate

The Rev'd George A. Kaswarra was born in Fort Portal, Uganda, and completed his undergraduate and seminary education in the Anglican Province of Uganda. He is a licensed priest in the Diocese of Newark and serves as a non-stipendiary Priest Associate at Christ Church. He previously served in this diocese as Priest-in-Charge of Trinity Church, Montclair, and in the Diocese of New York as rector of St. Francis and St. Martha's Church in White Plains. He is married to Maude Katumwebaze and they have four children.
